Thank you for your interest in writing for WKU Online! Our goal is to provide helpful advice, success strategies for school and beyond, and connect WKU students across the globe with needed resources.
Our content falls into three main categories: succeeding online (organization, time management, managing test anxiety, stress relief, balancing school with work, family and friends), student support (online resources to help you succeed, which may include research tips, program specific information, resume writing, etc.), and human interest stories that relate to your program of study at WKU (how did your program help you impact your corner of the world, how has it helped you succeed personally or professionally). We are also open to other topics, so if you have an idea you feel would be helpful, please let us know.
All that we ask is that you enjoy writing, and have experience as an online student and/or non-traditional student. Please note that contributors are not paid.
We love articles that are specific in nature. So, instead of writing “big picture” articles, think of it as if you are talking to one person, a friend asking for advice. For example, if your story focuses more on proven success strategies, please make sure you have a specific to-do list or action steps a reader can take, and let us know what worked for you personally and why you feel it was helpful. If your story falls more toward the human interest side of things, that’s great, too! Again, be specific. For example, one of our current students is enrolled in the Social Responsibility and Sustainable Communities master’s program, and he is completing his final project in the Amazon. Rather than his story being a broad, data backed look at the issues in the Amazon, we would ask that he focus on his personal experience, and choose one or two things that could or has made a difference.We would also want to know how the degree program is helping him achieve his goals.
